Why you need a WhatsApp Message Counter

Template body max is 1,024 characters. Header text 60. Footer 60. Quick-reply / URL buttons 25. These are the Cloud API boxes, not Instagram captions.

A session (free-form) message can go to 4,096. That does not mean you should. The offer still belongs in the first lines.

Spaces count. Variables like {{1}} count as the filled text later, not as four characters in production. Write the real sentence when you check length.

How to use it

  2. 2Read the count. If it is over, cut. Do not hope Meta will wrap it nicely.
  3. 3Buttons need a verb and an object: Book demo, not Learn more.
  4. 4Then name the template in the template name generator. Lowercase, underscores.

The body names the offer. The button is a verb. A 30-word “we are excited to announce” would waste the 1024 on nothing.

Meta rejects the template in the UI, not after you wrote the whole journey. Session messages stop hiding the offer behind a wall of text.

Common mistakes

  • Writing a template like an email. This is a phone bubble.
  • A button that says Click here. Name the step.
  • Checking Instagram 125 and calling it WhatsApp.
  • Submitting with {{1}} placeholders and never filling the real length.
